We are looking for a professional to work on developing next-generation biological products to improve plant nutrition and/or tolerance to environmental stresses. The candidate will work with Symbiomics’ microbial culture collections and platform to assist in the design and validation of new products that sustainably increase crop productivity. The ideal candidate has knowledge of basic concepts and tools of agricultural microbiology. Their role will focus on:

  • Performing activities involving the handling of microbiological cultures, preparation of culture media, solutions, and reagents for experiments involving microorganisms.
  • Designing, executing, and optimizing microorganism inoculation assays in plant systems and in vitro assays.
  • Working on implementing tools and infrastructures that support the execution of Microbiology, Molecular Biology, and microorganism inoculation assays in the greenhouse.
  • Preparing necessary materials for microbiological analyses and other experiments.
  • Assisting teams in daily activities to ensure high standards of scientific quality and compliance with SOPs, protocols, and safety standards.
  • Ensuring proper laboratory conditions, including equipment, supplies, solutions, sanitation, and maintenance and quality programs.
  • Maintaining organized and detailed records of protocols, experiments, and results.
  • Contributing to the startup’s success with new insights and ideas!


  • Degree in Biology, Agronomy, Microbiology, or related fields, or professional experience in any of these areas. (Just prove to us that you know what you’re doing!)
  • Experience with culture media preparation and procedures for handling, storing, and reactivating bacteria and/or fungi (We have no preference!).
  • Strategic planning skills and the ability to solve problems, critical thinking, and a sense of autonomy.
  • Knowledge of general procedures and good laboratory practices involving Microbiology and Molecular Biology.

It’s a plus:

  • Proven practice in handling microorganisms aimed at promoting plant growth.
  • Experience in plant inoculation assays and evaluation of plant-associated beneficial microorganisms.
  • Proven experience with microorganisms associated with plant species and soils.
