ABOUT THIS JOB
We are seeking a skilled Financial Manager to to lead Symbiomics’ financial strategy and operations during a time of rapid growth and evolution of the company. The selected professional will be responsible for the oversight of accounting, accounts payable and receivables, administrative tasks, financial planning, reporting and leading strategic financial decisions, working closely with internal teams and external partners such as investors, auditors, and accounting firms. The ideal candidate should have a solid background in finance and accounting, preferably with experience in high-growth companies, or innovation-driven sectors. The objectives of the position are:
- Lead the company’s financial operations, ensuring effective management of cash flow, budgeting, financial reporting, treasury management, and investment routines.
- Ensure financial practices comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and investor expectations, as well as establish and maintain policies, procedures, and financial controls.
- Coordinate the preparation of financial statements in collaboration with local (Brazilian) and international (US) accounting firms, ensuring alignment with applicable regulations.
- Support corporate governance and collaborate on corporate and shareholder matters, including documentation and filings.
- Coordinate financial audit process and ensure compliance with internal controls.
- Support financial planning efforts to support business model projections, including revenue scenarios, cost structure evolution, potential financing alternatives, and financial strategy aligned with company milestones.
- Oversee HR operations in coordination with external providers and internal staff responsible (payroll, benefits etc.).
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (or proven work experience in the field).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in financial roles, with at least 3 years in leadership or supervisory functions.
- Prior experience with audits, grants, and investor reporting.
- Prior experience with international corporate structures.
- Strong financial modeling, budgeting, and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Portuguese and English.
- Strong sense of ownership, organization, and ability to thrive in dynamic environments.
It’s a plus:
- Experience in venture-backed companies, fundraising processes and investor reporting.
- Experience and knowledge in IFRS and local accounting regulations.
- Experience working with Brazilian companies that maintain operations or business relationships abroad.
- Background or past experience in companies related to life sciences or agriculture-related industries is a plus.
