ABOUT THIS JOB

We are seeking a highly qualified researcher to join our Data Science and Bioinformatics team. The selected professional will be responsible for developing and applying machine learning and AI techniques to large-scale genomic and metagenomic datasets, contributing to the generation of innovative insights into microorganism–microorganism and plant–microorganism interactions, as well as the discovery of novel molecules. The ideal candidate should have a strong knowledge in bioinformatics, data analysis, and statistics, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment. The researcher’s responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement Machine Learning models applied to genomic and metagenomic data.
  • Design and optimize computational pipelines for the analysis of large-scale biological datasets.
  • Integrate sequencing data with phenotypic analysis, formulate hypotheses, and conduct analyses to infer biological patterns.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop new bioinformatics approaches.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports and presentations of results.
  • Stay abreast of advances in genomics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to apply innovations and generate new insights, contributing to the company’s success.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • D. or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Data Science, Computational Biology, or related fields, or professional experience in any of these areas. (Just show us that you know your stuff!)
  • Experience with Machine Learning techniques applied to biological data.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or similar.
  • Hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis.
  • Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis tools and biological databases.

It’s a plus:

  • Experience in orchestrating computational workflows using engines such as Nextflow.
  • Experience with SQL-based database management systems, such as MySQL.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies, including Docker and Singularity.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Knowledge of computational models for analyzing microorganism-host interactions.
  • Experience with computational models for molecule and peptide prediction.
